Piano Key Replacement
Over the years we’ve had a lot of strange requests regarding keys. We’ve worked on pianos that actually don’t work at all. Yet, people want to change out the keys to make sure that they are able to keep that facade. Certainly as far as the actual piano the main thing that we are going to want to do is make sure we are finding a key that matches the existing keys. If we can’t do that then we would have to scramble to figure things out. We want to go over some of the things that we go through in our key replacement services.
Brand Name Product Replacements
As we mentioned one of the first things that we are going to worry about is being able to find the right key that essentially goes with your particular piano. We have access to all sorts of spare parts for brand name products. This is something that you are not going to find with your local handyman. There is a better chance that we are going to be able to find the exact part for you. Compared to the chance that you would have of finding some of these parts on sketchy shops online.
Key Replacement Is Usually Not A Plug-In Play Type of Deal
Of course, when we ultimately replace a key we are going to want to make sure that it works properly. In testing it out there is a chance that we could have the opportunity to tune the piano. This is usually part of the “finished” product that we offer in all of our services. We want to make sure that we are able to give folks a piano that is fully functional by the time that we leave their property.
What Happens If You Can’t Find The Exact Key That I Need?
There are ways to essentially adjust the key to look like all of the rest on the piano. Is this going to be something that could lower the overall value of the piano? Yes, this most certainly could be something that could lower the value. It’s not all that often though, that we can’t find the right keys. What we see more is people not wanting to spend big money on new keys. That’s when we could advise using ones that look similar but cost a bit less. Ideally, though, we will be able to find the exact keys for you without too much trouble.
When Is It A Good Idea To Replace A Key?
You are probably going to have one of two problems that can lead to having a key replaced. Either the key is visibly broken and just makes the entire instrument not look as great as it should. The other issue is some type of malfunction with the key that leads to us not being able to tune the piano well. We can come in and evaluate your particular situation and give you ideas on what the best repair job could look like.
